Cariprazine Found to Be Effective and Well-Tolerated for Bipolar Depression
An eight-week, randomized, controlled study published today in AJP in Advance has found that a 1.5 mg daily dose of the atypical antipsychotic cariprazine can reduce depressive symptoms in people with bipolar I disorder experiencing a major depressive episode.Most antipsychotics are approved to treat bipolar manic or mixed episodes, but currently only lurasidone and quetiapine are approved for bipolar depression (lurasidone has not been assessed in bipolar mania and is not indicated for its treatment).
