About Psychology One

The mission of Psychology One is to be a free source of self-help and mental health resources for the general public.

Founded in 2011, Psychology One is a not-for-profit website certified by the prestigious Health on the Net Foundation, a non-profit, non-governmental organization, accredited by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

This website also hopes to provide information on common daily stressors, mental disorders, and tips for self-improvement.

In addition, this site provides 24/7 mental health and health related news coverage, aggregated from hundreds of recognized sources in one place for your convenience. Some of the top sources include Psychology Today, Harvard University and the New York Times.

How It All Started

This website is designed, coded and written by me, Alejandro A. LeMon.

When I decided to build a site in the field of psychology, I didn't realize how time consuming it was going to be. I decided to learn all of the basic coding to build a site that I felt was truly mine. This alone took me 3 months, and completion of my website took me about 9 more months.

This site went public on May 27th, 2011.

About Me

I'm a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida and I hold a doctorate degree in industrial organizational (I/O) psychology. I am also a former college instructor of sociology and I have worked at several not-for-profit agencies & EAP organizations.

My professional experience includes assisting children and adults with persistent mental illness and providing short-term solution-focused therapy to service members stationed overseas.

Throughout my practice, I have helped people improve their lives and relationships.

Within the domain of organizational consultation, I have also collaborated with not-for-profit faith based organizations to offer leadership development for teams of managers and directors and identify organizational challenges and solutions.
