Scans May Spot People Who'll Benefit From Surgery for OCD

MRI looks at a brain structure in patients who haven't benefited from standard treatments.The challenge: to distinguish between patients most likely to benefit from the surgery, known as "dorsal anterior cingulotomy," from those who probably won't.

Now new research, reported in the Dec. 23 online issue of JAMA Psychiatry, suggests that doctors may be able to spot candidates for the surgery by looking at a key structure in the brain region....
